Gemstone Description
The second label from the esteemed Yountville producer Gemstone, Facets, embodies exceptional quality at a more approachable price point. Crafted under Winemaker Julien Fayard’s expertise, his philosophy emphasizes the importance of expressing the unique characteristics of each vineyard site and grape variety. His notable work and expertise from his past began with his education at the University of Bordeaux, where he studied Viticulture and Enology, leading to his work at wineries including Château Lafite Rothschild and Quintessa.
Aged for 9 months in 30% new French oak, this wine is luminous pale lemon in color, and boasts aromas of preserved lemon, tangerine blossom, freshly sliced honeycrisp apple, and crushed rocks. It’s full-bodied and creamy in texture, with a subtle interplay of pineapple and pear supported by a beam of firm acidity and a saline, sweet-fruited finish.
