Domaine de la Folie Description
Clos Saint Jacques’s 4.2 acres were planted in 1952 in a postage stamp of a vineyard that faces due east on a steep slope (this enclosed vineyard should not be confused with Rully’s larger Les Saint Jacques vineyard to the south). The wine is replete with old vine intensity, finesse, and length. Year in and year out it is one of the appellation’s finest whites.
Also, these vines are UNGRAFTED which is called "Pied Franc". Ungrafted vines are a rarity and the wines resulting from them are exceptionally special.
Domaine de la Folie has a very special soil as it is much more like Cotes de Beaune vs Cote Chalonaise where they are located. They are on the far Northern edge of the appellation and are closer to Bouzeron than the rest of Rully.
Tasting Note: Showing richness in the bouquet with notes of White Orchard Fruits, lifted white Floral and soft Lemon Zest. Lovely balance of fruit and acidity. Exceptionally long finish. Killer Acidity! (Antonio - Burgundy Buyer for Houston Wine Merchant)
