Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Description
"les Levrey" is the first vineyard of Côte de Nuits Village in the south of appellation Nuits Saint Georges. The neighborhood from premiers crus Clos de la Maréchal and Clos de l’Arlot offer an extremely favorable situation to produce an unexpected powerful wine for the appellation.
This vineyard was mostly planted in 1937 and is located on fairly shallow soil. Its south-east exposure also gives a good maturity in this fairly premature terroir. The presence of a lot of limestone in this vineyard allow to keep nice freshness.
Tasting Note: This wine develops a beautiful Pinot fruit on a slightly minty background. Well-structured in the palate, it presents very supple and melted tannins, with aromas of red fruits (blackcurrant, redcurrant, raspberry).
Burghound: 88-91 Points
High-toned and pretty aromas feature those of essence of red currant along with touches of spice and earth. The rich, succulent and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors possess good vibrancy as well as solid depth and persistence on the lightly rustic finale.
Vinous: 86-88 Points
The 2021 Côte de Nuits Les Leury has a light floral bouquet with rose petal and red cherry fruit, more strawberry emerging with time. There is a bit of warmth unusual in this vintage (13.8% alcohol). The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, certainly a richer style of 2021 with a plush candied finish.
