Vinous: 90-92 Points
The 2021 Volnay Village exhibits more red fruit than the preceding Auxey-Duresses, infused with red brick and subtle oyster shell scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, slightly powdery in texture. Spicy, white pepper and bay leaf notes emerge towards the finish. Very suave.
Burghound: 90 Points
A discreet but not imperceptible application of wood sets off equally fresh and cool aromas of plum, dark currant and subtle earth nuances. The finer but not denser medium weight flavors also exude evident minerality on the beautifully well-detailed finish that offers equally good length if perhaps not quite the depth, at least not yet. This is a very fine Volnay villages and well worth a look.
