The Bandol Rosé from Pradeaux is perhaps the most serious wine in this category. Robust, rich, and complex with an ability to age gracefully, this wine is based on Cinsault (50%) and Mourvèdre (50%), taking its slight orange tint from the latter cépage. The younger vines of the domaine (average age: 25 years) are utilized to produce a rare rosé with staying power and exceptional complexity. Etienne Portalis insists that the Domaine's rosé is a gastronomic experience, not just an easy-drinking wine. We could not agree more, and tastings at Château Pradeaux have repeatedly demonstrated the graceful, profound future this wine encounters if not swallowed in its infancy.

I must confess that I still have a soft spot for Pradeaux's rosé, and the 2024 Bandol Rose is no exception. Unfurling in the glass with notes of red berries, spices, spring flowers and apricots, it's medium- to full-bodied, complex and elegant in profile, with a juicy, fresh core of fruit and moderate tannins that culminate in a mineral, gently minty and ethereal finish. This is a beautifully crafted rosé that continues to uphold Pradeaux’s distinctive and timeless charm.
