The 2017 Riesling Steingrüben "VDP. Grosse Lage" is excitingly pure and precise as well as elegant and bright on the ripe and complex nose that asks for more time or air. Pure and lean on the palate, this is a linear, very elegant yet concentrated and phenolic dry Riesling that is a bit austere at the moment; however, the finish is enormously salty and piquant. This is a classic. I will be curious to taste this wine again in a couple of years.
