The estate wine showing the most medium or long-term potential, the Tornatore 2017 Etna Rosso Trimarchisa is Nerello Mascalese with a tiny touch of Nerello Cappuccio. Compared to the classic Etna Rosso from this same estate, this wine is richer and more fleshed out with wild berry, cassis and flinty notes of pencil shavings or campfire ash. The wine is well balanced and it shows some dark hot-vintage intensity on all sides with dark ripeness, medium textural richness and good length. Some 18 months of oak aging has also added volume to this expression from Contrada Trimarchisa.
