"The pure Pinot Noir 2020 Quebrada Chalinga comes from vines planted 12 kilometers away from the ocean in Limarí (Talinay), from a plot on granite and limestone soils that was rented long term. The vines were planted ungrafted in 2006. It fermented with 50% full clusters and was left in an infusion in an open vat. It matured in neutral, well-seasoned oak barrels for 16months. It's 13.4% alcohol with a pH of 3.43 and six grams of acidity (tartaric). It has a light translucent ruby color, moderate ripeness and good freshness with aromas of blood orange, violets and wet chalk, a spicy touch and imperceptible oak. It's very dry, with some grainy tannins and a long, tasty and almost salty finish, very dry. This feels lighter, more like a white, while the white Chardonnay has a texture that makes you think of a red... Go figure! 5,240 bottles and 100 magnums were filled in June 2021."
