Element Winery Description
Bright, fresh and juicy, this wine is lifted in all the right ways! This wine shows red and black fruits, herbs and spice, all leaping from the glass. The palate is light and ethereal, with freshness from acid, a touch of grip from tannins, and a delightfully low impression of alcohol.
Vinous: 90 Points
A gulpable, kitchen-sink sort of blend, with a majority of Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, along with Syrah, Gamay, Blaufränkisch and "others," according to Bates. Light red with garnet glints. Bright, fresh red cherry throughout, offering accents of spring herbs and green tobacco, and enough youthful tannins to keep things interesting. Light and crushable. I wish the Finger Lakes produced more fun quality wines like this.
Wine Advocate
The amusingly named 2016 Can’t Stop/Won’t Stop is actually the former F.L.X. Cuvée with a new name. A kitchen-sink blend intended to represent all of the grapes the winery has worked with in the last few years, it is principally Cabernet Franc (37%), Pinot Noir (21%), Syrah (15%) and Blaufränkisch (14%), plus small amounts of Gamay Noir, Merlot, Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay, all aged for 18 months in neutral French barrels. It comes in at just 12% alcohol. The color is rather light, but ignore that. It's not a candied and fruity little concoction. Just don't expect a lot of body and power. Nicely textured, this velvety little red doesn't have a lot of depth, but it has ripe tannins for support, freshness and a distinctive finish with hints of beef and spice. This is a lot of fun—but it has just a bit of gravitas also. Plus, there's a nice price. It's worth leaning up for the moment, and it may hold nicely for a few years too.
