Vinous: 90-92 Points
The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru includes the fruit that normally enters the "Quintessence" this year. The aromatics don't really take off in the glass; they are a little subdued with touches of lanolin infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is better with bitter lemon and orange rind on the entry, quite compact for a Corton-Charlemagne, fresh with a lively and quite peppery finish. Enjoy this over the next 10-12 years.
Burghound: 90-93 Points
Here too there is just enough wood to merit pointing out on the nose of prominent petrol, green apple and crushed fennel scents. There is almost painful intensity to the delicious if only moderately dense flavors that display overt minerality on the delineated and attractively dry finale that delivers very good persistence. Like several wines in the range, this could use better depth but it's built-to-age and more should develop in time.
