Domaine Robert Chevillon Description

Nuits-Saint-Georges does not officially have any grand cru vineyards, but we are convinced that Cailles, Vaucrains and Les Saint-Georges are firmly grand cru quality.  This decision is currently in the hands of the appellation authorities but it is almost better if the status quo doesn’t change–that way we are assured to get grand cru quality at a premier cru price!

Before the land was cultivated with vines, it was full of brambles or ronces.

Vinous: 92-94 Points

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Roncières ler Cru, which was affected by hail, had just a small reduction on the nose. The palate is easier to read with attractive, quite tensile red cherry and blueberry fruit. The oak is nicely integrated here and there is a sorbet-like freshness on the finish that has plenty of joie-de-vivre. It's a wine that almost says...what hail?

Burghound: 92-94 Points

Pungent aromas of reduction and wood serve as a pungent introduction to the sleek, intense and velvet-textured middle weight flavors that are at once powerful yet refined before terminating in a strikingly long, balanced and complex finale. This youthfully austere effort is terrific and is potentially one of the best examples of this wine Chevillon has ever made.

Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points

Offering up aromas of dark berries, cherries, warm spices, woodsmoke and petals, Chevillon's 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Roncières is medium to full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with an enveloping core of fruit, ripe, powdery tannins and lively balancing acids.
