Domaine Robert Chevillon Description
Brothers Bertrand and Denis Chevillon are the fifth generation managers of this property in Nuits-Saint-Georges, which means they work the vines and make the wines. Their father Robert, for whom the domaine is named, is still active as well. Both brothers bring passion, experience, a tireless work ethic, and intensity to their work at the domaine. Tasting through their palate of Nuits- Saint-Georges is a venerable tour of the appellation. Their Passetoutgrain, a blend of Pinot and Gamay, is a worthy introduction and their rare (two barrels made) Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc made from the “Pinot Gouges” is an exotic treasure that ages just as long as the domaine’s fabled reds. And their Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne Chardonnay and Bourgogne Rouge are grown and vinified with the same care as their premier crus. It shows.
Sourced from a 0.60 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines
Burghound: 92-94 Points
Here too there is just enough wood present to point out on the more sauvage-inflected aromas of earth and violet along with a similar touch of poached plum. The velvety and palate coating medium-bodied flavors possess both good power and an almost pungent minerality on the youthfully austere, compact and quite serious finish that is built for the long haul. This is also excellent but not well that it's not going to drink especially well young.
Wine Advocate: 90-92 Points
The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières shows both the warmth of the vintage and the rockiness of this terroir. Offering up aromas of rich dark fruits and plum preserve, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a sun-kissed core of fruit that's underpinned by lively acids and chalky tannin.
Vinous: 90-92 Points
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières ler Cru is one cuvée that perhaps suggests a little over-ripeness on the nose, with touches of fresh dates infusing the black fruit. There is also an attractive floral element that will hopefully become more pronounced once in bottle. The medium-bodied palate has some oak to be subsumed on the entry and fine acidity. It's quite a thickly textured Nuits Saint-Georges with a touch of candied orange peel on the finish.
