Domaine Mouriesse Vinum Description
Brigitte and Serge Mouriesse produce rare wines from several small parcels on the right and left banks of the Rhône: 2.7 ha of living soils with strong identity. Mouriesse Vinum was created by Serge Mouriesse, oenologist and artisan of wine, creator of high-end confidential wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cuvées of terroir, elaborated in the tradition of great wines. “My passion for wine began at the age of 18 when I tasted grands crus in my grandfather's cellar, a revelation! I then began studying oenology in Bordeaux and then various professional experiences which led me to settle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape as a consultant oenologist in 1998… then to buy my first plot in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 2008. Mouriesse Vinum is born!
The production of our small domain is completed thanks to partnerships which allow me to develop complementary cuvées. Always in small volumes, between 900 and 3000 bottles per cuvée and in the same spirit: respect for the "signature" of the vine on its grapes.I have always thought of "wine" in terms of the soil, a vision inherited from my first masters in oenology... hence our parcel-based vintages! From vines cultivated without synthetic chemicals, our wines are ambassadors of the terroir of the vines, in all elegance. From one parcel to another, conditions are always different: the soils, the orientation of the parcel, its microclimate... the wines must be the reflection of each. The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and vinified as simply as possible. Mouriesse Vinum seeks the complexity of the terroir more than the concentration. Concentration will invite itself if it wishes: above all finesse and elegance! A quest for complexity and freshness mixed.”...Serge Mouriesse
A wine which creates wonderful sensations. It can be drunk now and can also stay in your wine cellar for 20 years. An exceptional Châteauneuf-du-Pape of pure Grenache from the brown Miocene sands in the eastern part of the AOC: intense aromas of red fruits and spices, a high quality cuvee. It has been praised in ‘Le Guide Hachette des Vins’ with an exceptional 3 star rating and given the unusually high mark of 17.5/20 in the ‘Revue du Vin deFrance’.
It combines well with rich flavours such as braised mushrooms, sirloin, fish in red pepper sauce, mature cheeses, red and black fruit desserts.
