Domaine Lamy-Pillot Description
The Lamy of the title is Rene Lamy, brother of Hubert in St-Aubin, but the Pillot part of the name is no relation to the other Chassagne Pillots. René Lamy worked for the Duc de Magenta while developing his own domaine alongside, leaving the Duc to concentrate entirely on his own estate in 1973. The domaine is now run by sons-in-law Sébastien Caillat and Daniel Cadot-Lamy. Sébastien and his wife Florence are primarily responsible on the production side. They have actually cut back from 21 hectares to a more manageable 15ha, which they run mostly organically except around the sensitive time of the flowering.
The whites, apart from the Montrachet, which they have as a sharecropping agreement with owner Claudine Petitjean are bottled before the next harvest.
- Jasper Morris
Tasting Note: A delicate balance of freshness, minerality and depth.
Comprised of five seperate parcels: Les Pierres and les Houillères on the Puligny-Montrachet side of the village, and les Essarts, les Clos Reland and les Champs de Morgeot on the Santenay side, share a good stony soil with ideal proportions of limestone. Gently sloping (5-10%), they face south-east and benefit from long exposure from morning to evening.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc offers up aromas of orange oil, yellow orchard fruit and buttery pastry, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and flavorful palate that's lively and saline, concluding with attractive chalky grip.
