Domaine La Croix Montjoie Description
Created in 2009 by Sophie and Matthieu Woillez the Domaine La Croix Montjoie covers a total of ten hectares in the village of Tharoiseau. The appellation Bourgogne Vézelay is located in the south of the Yonne department, in the Burgundy region, between Chablis and Beaune. The vineyards are spread over the hillsides of four communes (Tharoiseau, Saint-Père, Vézelay and Asquins) and cover a hundred hectares.
When it comes to vineyards Domaine La Croix Montjoie is unique by Burgundian standards. They are among the very few to have all their vines in one single parcel. Up behind the winery, just 400 metres away, is what looks like miniature version of the Corton hill. The ten hectares are exposed south and southeast. The soil is limestone and clay. More clay than limestone.
Tasting Note: Light and subtle hazelnut notes, delicate attack and a nice length on the palate for this Elegante which deserves its name. The limestone in our soils brings nice saline aromas at the end of the mouth.
