Domaine Jean Chauvenet Description
The Nuits-Saint-Georges village appellation represents the bulk of the holdings of the domaine, more or less seven hectares of vineyards spread across several parcels principally located in the northern reaches of the village on a combination of silt, sand, and gravel soils which produce a classic version of the appellation. The average age of the vineyards that compose this cuvée is 45 years.
Sourced from North of the village, specifically the Lieu Dit of Aux Allots and Aux St. Jacques
Tasting Note: A deeply colored wine with vivacity; somewhat stern in its youth but with excellent balance and black fruit flavours.
Burghound: 90 Points
A discreet touch of wood frames the very fresh expressive aromas of black cherry, earth and humus hints. There is very good volume to the dense, vibrant and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a moderately rustic, firm and lingering finale. This is an excellent Nuits villages and worth considering.
Vinous: 87-89 Points
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Village offers sensual red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit on the well-defined nose. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins. An unashamedly approachable and malleable Village Cru with a rounded, plump finish.
