Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils Description
The Domaine Guy Amiot was founded in 1920 by Arsene Amiot and today comprises 12 hectares in and near Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine includes parcels of old vines in 9 premier cru sites in Chassagne, with one each in Puligny-Montrachet and St. Aubin, and the Grand Cru Le Montrachet. Considered among the leading producers in the appellation, the domaine is now run by brothers Fabrice and Thierry Amiot. The house style is full-flavored, well-balanced and finely nuanced wines, expressing the unique terroir of each site.
"Les Demoiselles" is one of the smallest, and most rare cru in the Côte de Beaune. Locarted in the southern part of Puligny-Montrachet "Les Caillerets," directly beneath Chevalier-Montrachet, and separated from Le Montrachet itself by a mere foot path. Domaine Amiot owns 31 ares (which is a mere 0.766 acres); vines were planted in 1970; An elegant, intense Puligny of great finesse. Extremely limited. There are only three owners of this particular cru, of which Amiot is one
Tasting Note: Les Demoiselles, while a great choice for cellaring, always shows generously when young. While elegant and graceful, there also exists a seriously grave structural underpinning. Lacey fruit and floral notes give way to pan roasted nuts and wet stones. Superb!
Burghound: 90-93 Points
Moderate reduction and wood dominate the nose at present. Otherwise, there is good freshness and moderate density to the gorgeously textured flavors that deliver excellent length on the clean, dry and firm finale.
