Vinous: 90 Points
The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc Les Saucours was only bottled last March after a long élevage, cropped at a measly 8hL/ha (four barrels). I still find the nose a little simplistic juxtaposed against the complexity of their other cuvées. But the palate is more expressive with that twist of Japanese yuzu and orange zest, a touch of mandarin, plus a slight cereal/oaty note toward the finish. As I suggested in my original note, give it another 12 months in bottle.
Burghound: 87-90 Points
Hints of petrol and citrus zest add breadth to the aromas of green apple and humus. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the delicious and delineated middleweight flavors that conclude in a moderately dry and sneaky long finale where a touch of rusticity slowly emerges. Note that while this could easily be enjoyed young, it should also repay 2 to 5 years of cellaring.
