Bottled in February 2021, the white-golden 2019 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Furstentum offers a very clear, bright, fresh and finely aromatic bouquet of ripe pears, chamomile and crushed limestones. Full-bodied, intense and powerful but also fresh and salty on the palate, this is a dense and edgy, slightly bitter and alcoholic or even clumsy Pinot Gris that hasn't developed the structural or saline length this terroir deserves but is rather bitter. Normally sourced from three different plots that were picked and pressed together, the 2019 is based on a scaled harvest of the plots that were picked according to their particular ripeness to end up with a dry and digestible Pinot Gris, whereas the former vintages were bottled medium-dry to medium-sweet. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
