2023 Bordeaux Futures Offer #7 It's another longer offer today, with 34 items, with 22 from the Right Bank. There are a lot of great wines here, but I want to talk about two of our favorite Right Bank values, Tour Saint Christophe and Bellefont Belcier. Both of these wines have been on a tear in recent years and have been very successful for us. The Tour Saint Christophe is a wonder at only $35.00, as described by Neal Martin at Vinous: The 2023 Tout Saint Christophe has a perfumed, floral bouquet that shows fine delineation compared to some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied, displaying crunchy red fruit mixed with white pepper and cedar. Quite linear toward the finish, this is a finely-tuned Saint Emilion that should age well in bottle. (90-92)
For a slightly higher price at $47.50, the Bellefont Belcier gets even better press. From William Kelly in the Wine Advocate: The 2023 Bellefont Belcier demonstrates this property's continuing renaissance, exhibiting more density and seriousness as the team starts to get the best out of their holdings on the plateau of Saint-Émilion overlooking the slopes that surround the château. Offering up aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with hints of burning embers and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with a layered core of fruit, powdery structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish.
