White Wines

Pedroncelli Sauvignon Blanc 2007

Back in 1927 John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased a vineyard and a small winery in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. Three generations later, with the same dedication and meticulous attention to detail, the Pedroncelli family are still at the top of their game. The family survived prohibition and over 60 years of drinking trends and world changes. Their passion for wine is as rich and deep as their history and it shows.

Sauvignon Blanc grown in Dry Creek Valley has a reputation for creating a wine with distinct characteristics and is considered one of the appellation’s hallmark wines. Misleading aromas of minerals and red currant leaf often confuse the most astute palates into thinking Sonoma Sauvignon Blancs are French. Try it out on your favorite oenophile!

This wine shows aromas that are fresh and herbal with soft grapefruit, fresh cut hay, figs, minerals and honeycomb. On the palate it shows Honeydew melon, with green apples and citrus peel. The finish is crisp and dry with wellbalanced acidity. Everything about this wine shines.

Perrin Côtes du Rhône Blanc Réserve 2007

Jean Pierre and Francois Perrin have taken particular care that this Côtes du Rhône meets their stringent standards of excellence. As proprietors of Chateau de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Perrin family has demonstrated exceptionally high standards for nearly a century. This may not be Beaucaste Blanc, however it is a luscious, rich white blend from the southern Rhône that sings with the perfume of the land from which it came.

The wine is sourced from the relatively cool districts around Cairanne and Jonquieres. Made from a classic blend of Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and small amounts each of Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier.

The aromatics on this wine will have you with your nose in the glass over and over again. Ripe with summer stone fruits like apricots and nectarines and a hint of honeysuckle aromas that jump to greet you. Medium bodied on the palate, the wine shows flavors of ripe peaches, creamy mango flesh and a crisp citrusy finish. Grab a bottle and see for yourself, this is a serious crowd pleaser!

Hope Estate Chardonnay 2007

Hope Estate was established in 1994 when Michael Hope gave up his pharmacy career to do something he loved: make wine. Together with his wife Karen, they purchased their first vineyard at Broke in the Hunter Valley consisting of 30 acres of vines on a 250-acre property. Right off the bat, they recognized the quality of the fruit to be exceptional and made further plantings.

Hope Estate has now become one of Hunter Valley’s most successful family owned wineries. Their success lies in the belief that to make a great wine all aspects from growing the grapes to bottling the juice is done on-site.

This Chardonnay exhibits tinges of soft green and pale yellow with aromas of nectarines, cantaloupe and grilled pineapple. On the palate, bright Meyer lemon complement flavors of white peaches and yellow apples. Hope uses 100% French oak barriques that round out the wine with a sweet, nutty character that hangs on to the finish. This is a clean, crisp and complex Chardonnay that you will love!

Red Wines

Abbaye de Saint-Ferme Bordeaux Supérieur 'Les Vignes du Soir' 2004

Abbaye de Saint-Ferme is committed to improved sustainable viticulture practices and restoring balance and integrity to wine making. They are focused on making food-friendly wines and not bowing to the "international profile" currently sweeping many old world wineries. A rare breed in its price range, the wine shows great depth and complexity.

A blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine is dark ruby in color, with an herbaceous and peppery nose. On the palate you'll taste black cherry and chocolate, with the merlot keeping the fruit high and the herbaceous notes from the cabernet franc adding interest and balance. The barrel aging in one and two year old barrels lends soft tannins without adding perceptible oak. This is a great value that’s showing well now but would benefit from six to 18 months laying down. Our recommendation: buy enough to enjoy now and later, so you can enjoy this to its fullest potential.

Andeluna Malbec 2006

The name Andeluna was chosen to symbolize the romance and heritage of the Argentine moon illuminating the magnificent Andes Mountains that frame the Uco Valley near the town of Tupungato. While wine culture here may have its history in the old world, at Andeluna their feet are planted firmly in the new, at 4200 ft above sea level to be exact. The wide temperature range, constant sunshine and distinct soil characteristics produce grapes with exceptional intensity in color, as well as an intriguing aromatic expression.

Winemaker Silvio Alberto, is one of the rising stars of Argentina and was recently recognized as “Outstanding Young Winemaker of the Year”. Silvio draws upon the expertise of celebrated French Winemaker, Michel Rolland, for guidance, support and vision. The wines produced by this dynamic winemaking team are made in a style that allows them to compete with the greatest wines in the world.

The 2006 Malbec is 100% varietal with classic aromas of ripe plums, blackberries and fresh coffee. Notes of black cherry and spices are balanced with lush flavors of red plum, black currant and dark chocolate. The finish is all Cassis liqueur with fleshy round tannins that linger on.

$13.99 per bottle

Bodegas Virgen Blanca Viña Sardasol Crianza Navarra 2001

The winery was founded in 1956 by a group of growers and winemakers from the town of Lerin. It was their belief that the wines of Navarra could match the quality of any other region in Spain. This led to the creation of Bodegas Virgen Blanca.

Situated in the northeast of the Iberian peninsula, Navarra is bordered by France to the north, Aragón to the east, La Rioja to the southwest, and the Basque Country to the west. This part of the country thrives on it’s rich history in wine-making and wine culture and Bodegas Virgen is no exception. Their wines are clearly sewn from old-school thread, with abundant earth and oaky nuances.

The 2001 Crianza has a rich nose that screams of sweet fresh figs and dried black raspberries. On the palate this wine is an opulent mouthfull of plums, prunes, chocolate and walnuts. The tannins are soft and elegant and finish with a soft hint of sweet vanilla bean. A beautifu wine for grilled lighter meats and casual weeknight dinners.
